Shabaka Kush is a creative sphinx. Born where the Nile River splits in Khartoum Sudan.  At the age of 5 he was forced to flee his homeland due to political unrest. Kush moved to Egypt for a couple of years and ended up in Minneapolis, Minnesota through a refugee program. Kush grew up in the twin cities and studied Marketing and Psychology at the University of Minnesota. His entrepreneurial spirit combined with his creativity laid the seeds for his ambitious aspirations. This led him to venture out to Los Angeles to pursue his creative endeavors. LA gave him the infrastructure to explore his many interests and truly hone in on his copious crafts. 

 

His versatility is reflected in the contents of his music. From the flexing braggadocios attitudes that are the core of hip hop to finding deeper meanings in love and being  a voice for social justice. Needless to say kush has a plethora of topics with a unique perspective. He is a huge advocate for Freedom. Specifically the pursuit and fight for one own freedom to do and be whatever one’s heart desires. He believes the path to freedom begins from within through true authenticity. There’s power in authenticity because there is no fear. When there is no fear there’s Freedom.
